A Prayer for Reverence

🙇

O God, in the rush and noise of daily life, remind me to pause. Teach me to stand still long enough to recognize the sacred — in the created world, in the faces of those around me, in the mystery of my own existence.

Help me not to grow numb to the holy. Let me not walk through this life with eyes that see but do not behold, with ears that hear but do not truly listen. Reawaken in me the capacity for wonder — the kind that stops you mid-step and makes you breathless with gratitude.

May I approach sacred things — prayer, nature, grief, joy, truth — with the care they deserve. May I honor the elders who came before me, the children who follow after, and the earth that holds us all.

Keep me from the arrogance of thinking I am the center of things. Ground me in something larger than myself, and let that grounding be a gift — not a burden, but a belonging.

I bow before what is greater than me, and I am grateful to be held by it.

Amen.
